Dear Friends and Neighbors,

For the past 11 years, and three terms as President, I have had the honor of serving as a member of the Board of Education for the Glendale Unified School District. In addition to being a small business owner, I have been active in numerous business, civic and youth organizations serving the greater good of our community throughout the past 22 years.

During my tenure on the School Board we were able to weather the economic crisis and keep cuts as far away from the classroom as possible through sound fiscal management and with the help of the community and our business partners. I plan on bringing the same common sense and bi-partisan solutions to Sacramento. I have become increasingly frustrated with the continual decline of our great State. Whether due to systematically cutting funding from public education or creating an unfriendly environment for businesses, California’s future is dimming.

This decline is symptomatic of the dysfunction that has gripped our state government for much too long. The state budget is in shambles. We spend far in excess of what we take in, while cutting funding for public education, public safety, and social programs for our most vulnerable citizens.

In the midst of our declining state income, businesses, which provide much needed tax revenue, are being chased out by excessive regulation. Many of my neighbors and friends are unemployed. Many have lost their homes to foreclosure. It is heart wrenching that so many families and individuals don’t have enough to live on without assistance from the Government. We are on an unsustainable path with no resolution in sight.

We have to make every effort to renew our quest to create job opportunities for our residents! I’m committed to advocate for jobs and small business, we need to get back to the basics to attract and retain business. Unfortunately, the norm of today is to see far too many businesses closing their doors on a daily basis after being strangled by over regulation. Our state’s economic crisis directly and negatively affects our public safety, education, healthcare, and senior services to name a few.

Public education funding continues to shrink forcing many schools to increase class size, lay off teachers and cut crucial programs. With three of my five children in college, I see first hand their and other student’s challenges, either ending up on a waiting list or even being denied the opportunity to get an education. It’s come to a point where our government has grown too big and is denying our youth the opportunity for the American Dream.

Thank you for helping me reverse our state’s downward slide with YOUR VOTE.
